She is an associate professor at Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research, Ahmedabad since 2009. In 2006 she completed PhD in Economics. 

She presented papers in many national and international conferences/seminar and published more than 40 papers in national and international journals. 

She is the evaluator and monitor of Council of advancement of people action and rural technology and she evaluated 23 projects for the State Govt. agency.

She is a senior Member of IACSIT. Her research areas are Economics of Natural Resource, Rural and underdeveloped area, Industrial Economics, Special Economic Zones, Infrastructure Development, Port Economics, Gender, Health, Education and Human Development women issues and women empowerment .

She worked as a project director of Gujarat State Planning Commission and ICSSR projects. She is a PhD guide of Gujarat university and 5 students are under her guidance.

She involves in giving a training/lecturer to State Govt. staff at SPIPA-Ahmedabad.

She is a member of many organizations like - AARDI -Hon. Senior. She is a member of many organizations like - AARDI -Hon. Senior Fellows, member of Gujarat Economic Association, Member of Advisory Board in he Mass and expert/ editorial board member of many national and international journals. 

She is the member of Technical committee of Gujarat Election Dept. under SVEEP(Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation).

She is deeply involved with Media participation as a panelist of economist and political expert in various channels like Doordarshan, Gujarat9, Nirmana, Jano Duniya, Sandesh, VTV, IBN7, GSTV, ETV etc.

She has written books like -

International Trade- Which gives whole details about the international trade theories and its gain, factor empowerment, IT policy, WTO, etc

Mineral Economy & Developing Issue of Kachchh Region- Which provides the details of present mineral scenario in Kachchh district and how this mineral resource beneficial foe the local socio-economic life. Its shows backward forward linkages of mineral resources.

Dr Kalpana Satija is a multi faceted personality. She is a woman with the vision to do something for the well being of other women. Though she is very busy in her schedule, she is very much interested to do something and utilise her forte anyhow which can be motivational for thousands of people there which she is doing by conducting lectures for women empowerment and on any topic which is helpful to women in any manner.
