Denim Over Me is the registered brand of Denim Over Me Denim Products Pvt Ltd. Our vision is to revolutionize the usage of this sturdy cotton which is mainly used as apparel and never been explored in other horizons.
The main essence of our designs is to let you flaunt these bags with your formal attire and not just casuals.
We have pledged to distance the brand from animal abuse and slaughter and therefore we use merciful faux leather. We use virgin (unwashed) denim fabric which ensures the quality and durability of our ware.
- Mention your struggle which you have to face to start your venture
Journey has been and is quite a roller coaster ride till date, which started from convincing my own self to initiate a bold step. It was a big step to leave that comfort zone and risk your guts for a new startup.
Sitting in an air-conditioned office as against roaming in various markets in search of raw materials and visiting various small manufacturing units…everything all alone was bit tough however being passionate about my work made it easy.
What I experienced is that women are not taken seriously and also get eyebrow raising reactions for roaming alone in many such male dominated places. I am glad that I managed to rise above this. I believe it’s a Risk worth
taking…!!!

Being only daughter it was bit difficult to make my parents understand, but seeing me happy with my work they are absolutely supportive now.
- Ups and Downs being an Entrepreneur
There are many “Ups” other than being the boss; the most prominent ones are building your “passion” and work satisfaction with a lively face despite putting endless hours.
Talking about downs” leaving the fixed income and then surviving on your own comes with lot of sacrifices. But it’s my passion towards my start-up that I would not term any incident/event as “down”, it’s either success or learning.

- Are you happy choosing your way to be an entrepreneur?
Yes… I firmly believe in breaking stereotypes and seeing a positive change in ourselves as well as in the environment, which is what Entrepreneurship is all about.
- Difficulties you have to face being a woman in your field –
Mainly procuring raw material, manufacturing are male dominated arenas in my field. In the initial stage, right from searching appropriate quality raw material, which includes minor fittings to the fabric, to hiring labors, was a challenge. In such male dominated places women are not well accepted.
- What do you think about necessity of empowerment of woman
I believe it is the self-confidence and moral support from family. The setbacks that girls face “because you are a girl” under the name of culture and tradition have hindered their growth.
Once we understand that our tradition and culture is not about restricting girls, I am sure we will have Sarla Thakral, Indra Nooyi, Chanda Kochar and similar role-models in every village, town and city.
- Any special comment you want to convey to women who are following you
No matter what others say… just keep walking and you will see your dream shaping into reality. All you need is …just one step towards it…
