Feeling very proud to introduce Google Anita Borg Scholar, Vaibhavi Desai.
Technocrat, passionate, focused and a lady with a vision who knows how to use technology for the betterment of society.
She will be working as the Project Coordinatoron on an assignment of Google. She pursued her BTech in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at DA-IICT,Gandhinagar.
She has been the Google Student Ambassador(GSA) for the year 2013-14. She did her Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2014 with the "Systers" community of Anita Borg Institute.
She is also involved with Google Developer Group Ahmedabad (GDG Ahmedabad) where she has delivered several tech-talks & hangouts, as well as have organized tech-seminars all across Ahmedabad on Google Technologies.
Achievements:
- She was awarded the Google Anita Borg Memorial Asia Pacific Scholarship 2014, having a distinction of being one of the 7 girls from India to bag this honor.
- She was invited to Google Tokyo (Japan) - (September 2014) to receive this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to women who perform exceptionally well in the domain of computer science containing academic background, research work, projects and leadership qualities.
- Recently,She was invited and awarded 'Travel Grant Award' by Google to attend the "Grace Hopper Conference" (October 14-16,2015) at Houston (Texas, US). This conference is considered to be the largest gathering of women technologists in the world.
She is leading a project named Women On Web Initiative in collabration with Utkarsh Foundation.
The roots of the events were ---- at the first "WWW Day Celebration" by Utkarsh Foundation in Ahmedabad. She has been leading the "Women In Technology" initiative at several places being a Google Anita Borg Scholar. Looking at the response of the participants at the event, She collaborated with "Utkarsh" (Rekha Adhwaryu) and planned this initiative called as "Women On Web" (WoW).
By this initiative they are strongly supporting the "Help Women Get Online" campaign of Google.
The main motive behind the initiative is to help women learning basic technology skills, which would be beneficial in their own daily lives and businesses.
Second motive is to help them building an online profile and showcase their talents and skills through different online channels to the world.
Here is the detailed agenda of the event. It was a 4 session event focused on teaching Google Mail, Google Drive, YouTube, Blogger and Social Media concepts to the women of age group 40 and above.

Next Steps :
They are planning to take this initiative to the next level by collaborating with different national and international communities who are working on the same lines as them. A community of Singapore has shown interest in collaboration for the same cause.
They will be announcing their next season very soon, which will include both basic technology training, plus expert counseling sessions for the women individuals who want to implement these technologies in their businesses and want to build a strong online profile.
